About
A different way of looking at problems.
Bottleneck Theory combines analytical problem-solving with hands-on technical implementation. You work directly with the person doing the analysis and building the solution.
Hi, I'm Chase.
Founder & Principal Consultant
Bottleneck Theory is a boutique consultancy founded on 12 years in information technology, including seven years in process improvement and systems analysis.
My strength is walking into an unfamiliar operation, understanding how the work really moves, and finding where it breaks down. The cause is rarely where people expect. A form asks for information nobody uses. An approval step exists because of a problem solved years ago. Two teams track the same thing in different places and spend hours reconciling them.
That analysis is backed by the technical experience to act on it: enterprise systems, workflow automation, systems integration, and custom application development. I’ve built intake and case management systems, financial workflow tools, and BoothIQ, a commercial SaaS business management platform.
So the recommendation and the delivery come from the same place. Sometimes the right answer is a clearer process. Often it’s an automation, an integration, an AI-assisted workflow, or an application built for the job. Either way, I can design it and build it.
How I think about the work
Five working principles.
- 01
Diagnose before prescribing.
A solution chosen before the problem is understood is a guess with a budget.
- 02
Respect the people doing the work.
They usually know exactly where it breaks. They rarely get asked.
- 03
Prefer the simplest change that holds.
Fewer steps, fewer systems, fewer special cases.
- 04
Make improvement measurable.
Set a baseline so results can be shown, not just claimed.
- 05
Leave it documented.
A fix that only one person understands is a new bottleneck.
